The guideline hereunder applies to cooling towers of wet, dry and wet/dry design with natural and mechanical draught. Supplementary regulations must be observed whenever cooling towers are subjected to licensing procedures under the atomic energy laws.
In combination with the Guideline VGB-S-610-00-2019-10-EN "Structural Design of Cooling Towers" (replaces "Civil Engineering for Cooling Towers“, VGB-R 610 U) the guidelines hereunder provide for a broader understanding of cooling tower technology. Specific operating conditions and requirements - duly accorded with plant manufacturers and operators alike - are described in order to establish basic prerequisites in terms of technology and economics so as to facilitate competitive bidding and cooperative efforts between those engaged in the planning of cooling towers.
